John is the Programme Manager at the Alternative Proteins Association. The APA has 20+members and is the largest association of its kind in Europe, designed to promote the value of alternative proteins in the UK. The APA aims to tackle the challenges of food insecurity, climate change, and intensive farming by helping the UK become a world leader in alternative proteins and inspiring collective action. Before venturing into food, John was previously a Net-Zero Energy Consultant at Arup & Partners. He was also a Policy Advisor at DEFRA, worked on synthetic biology research and served on an advisory board for a leading cultivated meat startup. He holds a master’s degree in engineering and is highly passionate about sustainable food, even founding his own (mushroom growing) alternative protein company during university!
