Start Up Success: BioMara

What inspired the founding of your start-up, and how does your innovation address a critical challenge in the food tech ecosystem?
BioMara was founded to deliver B2B food and wellness ingredients from seaweed for planet and human health. Our technology innovation extracts high-purity, bioactive fucoidan from seaweeds. Our ingredient portfolio addresses the need for reliable, cost-competitive, natural, functional ingredients that boost nutrition, gut health, immunity and longevity.
What were your objectives at the Future Food Tech summit, and how did you prepare for the event?
Our goals for Future Food Tech were to raise brand visibility, validate market interest, and meet potential partners and investors. We prepared by refining our messaging, showcasing samples, aligning our pitch with customer pain points, and booking meetings in advance with key stakeholders through the summit’s networking platform.
Can you describe any key outcomes or connections you made at the summit?
We formed valuable new connections with food and supplement brands and manufacturers, formulators and R&D/innovation teams, and ingredient buyers. Several promising conversations and negotiations are underway, including pilot trials now completed and investor discussions. Our participation also increased visibility among media outlets seeking insights into innovative, science-backed, sustainable ingredients in functional food and health products.
What feedback did you receive from attendees or industry leaders, and how has it influenced your product or business strategy?
Attendees praised our tech innovation, scientific rigor, sustainability story and clean-label positioning. Many expressed interest in BioMara fucoidan’s bioactive benefits, particularly for immunity and gut health. Also Seafibrex was a huge hit with its functional and healthy profile. This feedback reinforced our focus on supplement/nutraceutical and functional food markets, and accelerated efforts to scale up production to deliver to order.
